Heres a new song I've been working on. It's still a bit rough around the edges. Just wanted to see what you guys think.

hi rik i have came up with a vox for the beginning of the song but was stumped as you never returned to that riff, i will post the bit i have done shortly to give you an idea, i have done 4 short verses then i would expect a chorus to come in the return to the riff at the beginning after a few variations etc if u no wot i mean
anyway here it is, gone more like the fall than t rex.

Oldrottenhead,

You're amazing! One of my favorite singers is Robert Pollard of Guided By Voices. It's uncanny how much you sound like him sometimes, with this collaboration and the other one we did together; Consequence of Trying. I've also listened to a lot of your other collaborations and you're like a Chameleon with your voice, you can sound like so many other singers. Anyways, I love it! However, do you think there is a bit too much reverb in the vocals? Eitherway it's f'in fantastic! I'd love to see the lyrics as they are difficult to make out.

I agree, i should have returned to the original riff, I wasn't sure where or when to return so I just didn't. It's probably just laziness on my part. But this is why this website is such a great little community, we need advice and/or opinions like that, thank you!

I already started working on a more polished version so I'll make sure to incorporate a return to that original riff.

thanks!

lyrics are so far

napoleon apartment complex
den of iniquity
just east of purgatory

you're no  one
you're off the radar
out of the picture
nobody miss ya

napoleon apartment complex
a sad statistic
that once existed

forgotten
in our subconscious
beneath the surface
there lies a furnace

my idea was to have those 4 short verses followed by a chorus then return to 4 or 2 verses chorus break and fade out verse repeating napoleon apartment complex.

i liked the sound and wordplay of the title you gave the song, i looked it up in the net and found there is a napoleon apartment complex. what i found where police incident reports. so that suggested poverty, social exclusion etc, but napoleon complex suggests madness, so plan was to take the lyric that way. the wordplay of the title  reminds me of mark e smith or captain beefheart, let the fun begin. i love guided by voices not heard them for a while, i dont deliberately try and sing like other singers, i try and sing in keeping with the music. as said somewhere before think of myself as more a songwriter/lyricist so would love to hear a good singer singing one of my efforts.

Nice one guys. Looking forward to the full length masterpiece!

That's a brilliant title by the way  :)

Flash Harry

Great stuff guys.

I love the feel, it's right off the wall. Please don't just leave it there.

I want to know what this place is like.

Many thanks guys! I'll be sure to work on it a bit more; rearrange some of the parts so it'll be more lyrically conducive.

What is the psychology behind living in a small apartment? What does it do to a person when your limited on space and you feel the walls closing in on you. It takes away some of our freedoms, for example, rocking out on the guitar! We're put on the defensive. We envy our friends with large apartments or even more... houses. Anyways that was my thought process while jamming out to this grove and I couldn't turn up the volume because I have neighbors down stairs that are hyper sensitive to upstairs noise.
