Hi Nigel, I just love this to bits, ticks all the boxes and yes some fine bass playing as well. Reminds me a bit of "Air" in places, a band I play on a regular basis. It does appear that you have that Kaosillator well under control and I'm really looking forward to more.............Willie

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone, inspiring and helpful as always and the positive feedback for Dan's bass playing was most encouraging! FYI Dan will be 15 in a few months and as he's not playing in a band at present, I thought this would be a good idea to "keep his hand in". All the "you should do more" comments have convinced him that indeed we should do more, which will be fun. So expect more dancy stuff from us. Although to ORH's point when I suggested we might play this stuff live together he ran away screaming. So I am cool enough for studio work but not live work!

Thanks for the "Air" references Sandy and Willie. I love Air and the way they produce their stuff, so they are definitely a big influence on me. As are Kraftwerk (and Neu and La Dusseldorf, who veered into electronica a lot), so 64G got that influence. I've been listening to a lot of Pendulum and Enter Shikari so have been getting into a more dance-oriented style of music recently, and it was great fun to try something that tapped that genre.

As always, thanks again for the feedback.

Cheers,

Nigel

I saw this topic earlier today at work where the Fun Police have banned headphones. I was itching to have a listen because I knew it would be something special.

I have not been disappointed.

Fantastic guys.

Nigel, Dan needs his own BR800.

And some more kit.

I guess you mixed it Nigel. The bass is nice and prominent.

This production is so fat. Not to sound like everyone else here, but... It's not really my genre, but I love this. Of course, I'm a Ferryman fan. The distorted, chorsued guitars on the left and right are the Ferryman fingerprints – the post-punk guitarist crashes the dance party.

The bass is very good. As a bass player, I grudgingly admire this style of bass. It's deceptively simple. When I try to do it, it doesn't come out right. Back when I was a young punk-prog zealot, I would have said, "It's stupid. Who wants to play this style of bass anyway?" Today I stand back in admiration.

Even though I said it's not my genre, in 2020, 10 minutes before the pandemic shut down all live music, I saw TWRP in Phoenix, Arizona.

If you like this tune by Ferryman and Son, give TWRP a try.

Take one look at them – the silly costumes. You'd be wrong to dismiss them as a novelty band. The playing and songs are really excellent. So I guess I am a fan of this genre after all – the excellent version of this genre, as heard here, and by TWRP.

Quote from: 64Guitars on August 31, 2010, 10:05:46 PMmy tastes run more to Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kraftwerk, etc.

Since you mentioned it, 64Guitars, Last year I met Alain, an older retired musician/producer who now runs an AirBnB in Nosy Be, Madagascar (this is the place). Back in the day he had a career in music, flim, and TV, and was pals with Jean Michel Jarre. It was super interesting to talk to him. These days he still tinkers with music, but spearfishing is more his hobby – when he's not regaling his guests with stories of his career.
