Hi ivem just got my 600 and have been trying to put together my own drum patterns. I tried to do it real time but the volume of the pads are very quiet unless you really bash em. Its a new bit of kit and im cautious about how hard i hit the pads. Any ideas lads?

There's a pad sensitivity setting ("Pad Sens") in the UTILITY/SYS menu. See page 201 of the BR-600 manual. It defaults to "MID". You might want to try changing it to "LIGHT".

Hi mate
with the pads set to light it means you don't have to batter the hell out of them. Mind you they still need a pretty hard thump!

I know...

But what I wanted to do was use a track to record the pads...

It never seems to record...

Drums can only be recorded to audio tracks in bounce mode. The drums are stereo, so you'll need to record to a pair of tracks.

However, you can create a drum pattern in real time by tapping the drum pads. This is explained on pages 145 and 146 of the BR-600 manual. The advantage of creating a pattern is that it's played by the drum machine, so it doesn't use any audio tracks and you can still edit it any time you like. The major disadvantage is that you can't monitor your audio tracks while creating the pattern.

Did you buy a BR-600, Tharek?
