Thanks, everyone.

Quote from: des0free on August 28, 2010, 06:35:29 PMHow do you record bass and drums?

Playing a Squire P-bass through a Roland Cube 30 amp and using the Recording Line Out to a little mixer and then to Sonar 1 on the PC.  Then boosted some 800hz on the track.

Drums are cobbled together playing sticks on an Alesis Drum Pad controlling an Alesis SR-16 drum machine, playing kick, snare, toms, cymbals one at a time on separate tracks.  Only coordinated enough to play one drum head at a time. :D
BTW, Alesis now makes a one-piece unit that basiclly combines the Drum Pads and the SR-16... which looks like it would be a nice set-up.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

I've never heard of this song (to be honest, my Macca solo knowledge is a little lacking...), but I could hear straight away why you wanted to cover it. It's a beautifully deep, complex and emotional song with that special Mr MacCartney songwriting touch. And as always, we're treated to a Hooper masterclass of graceful, timeless production and another top-drawer performance. Sheer class.

What a pleasure, listening to songs by Hooper and Andy R in one day, my two fave producers here. Hooper, this is fantastically well put together with great use of the stereo image, love the backing vox off to one side, the nice keyboard combinations and the crystal clear production. Some very nice guitar playing as well. A gem.

Have to say I've never heard the song so this sounds original to me!

Cheers,

Just great!!

I haven't heard this one in awhile, but I like it, and this is a fabulous cover.

As always, the instruments are played so well that you have great tones to work with in  production and the result is a crystal clear, well mixed record.

I especially liked the antiphony in the back up vocals, which add a lot to the piece.

Well played, well sung, well done. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Let it be known, there is a fountain, that was not made, by the hands of men.

What a pretty song (with the always expected fantastic execution). I admit to not knowing this tune, which kind of freaks me out in a way.

Must go investigate.

Hmmm, I don't remember this one either, and I'm quite sure I was punished severely with Wings tunes when I was a child...

I really like the vocals on this one. Some of the note bending and harmony work was very impressive.

Very cool!

I have to admit that I have never heard this before!
But, after saying that, Allow me to say, that this cover of yours
is such a beautiful song to convey the feeling of one of the greatest/
if not, the greatest/ feelings in a persons' life!
Your vox and production skills are again a show-stopper.

I was a huge Beatles fan (our band played almost all of the early stuff) and when they quit, I couldn't bring myself to follow any of them individually after hearing a few.
For me it was the collaboration that worked.
I'm a fan of The Hoop tho. Excellent work.
