New.  Recorded with my new laptop PC using Samplitude & Mixcraft.  Vocals were recorded with a Pod Studio UX2 (Line 6).  A Yamaha PSR295 was used as a MIDI controller.

Enjoy "Mystery"

 :)

Your mind's become a mystery
You're tearing everything right out of me
Destroying all my faith n hope
You're pushing me out to the end of my rope

Think you're a diva.  Walk around like you're rich
But all I see is one psychotic bitch
But still I try to get inside of your mind
I start to thinking it's a waste of my time

Sanity so far away
Just a passing thought
Or a word you said long ago
Could you be reached again
Out in the distant void
Help me find a path
To your cold reason.

I really think you're on a torture spree
But why you are just don't make sense to me
I've never failed to give you all that I got
You take my love and put me in this spot
I don't like thinking of just walking away
Cos deep inside I know you want me to stay
But I won't take much more of this abuse
Just change your attitude or we'll will both lose

Deep inside a restless heart
Can begin to feel
If it's left to pine long enough
What is this strange hold you have come to take on me
That you have grown to love
You'll never have enough.

You haven't got too much to say for yourself
You act insane most of the time.  You need help.
You treat me like I'm barely even there
Hard to ignore your cold indifferent stare
I've asked myself just what I've done to deserve
The icy attitude you give.  I'm unnerved
It must be something from a time in my past
Got no solutions and I'm sinking fast

Long ago I gazed into a lovely set of eyes
So vulnerable and so alone
Are these the same blue eyes that once made my world whole
Oh how they've lost their glow
To something so damned cold

Your mind's become a mystery
You're tearing everything right out of me
Not the least of which my heart & soul
Can't quite remember feeling so damned low.

Hi, Somehow reminded me of Steely Dan..kept imagining Donald Fagen singing in the background..
foot tapping groove going on:))
Nice clean sound on the keys and bass...vox has an apt, appropriate feel:)

Great work here John, clever arrangement and some nice use of effects and panning. The verse vocal is very clever with the effect on it and I like the way it is off centre in the mix (could do with being a little louder in the mix for me though). The Steely Dan references make sense, that electric piano and the very polished feel of the whole thing is definitely redolent of them. It's a really subtle groove that hooks you in very nicely. Great production as well, very crisp and clear.

There's some strong lyrics there. Are you speaking from personal experience?

Cheers,

Nigel

Oh My, this is lovely!
I really like the way you do the talking/singing vox in this.
This is a favorite now.

Holy crap this is monumental.  Epic in scope.  Every choice you made here from instrumentation, vocal tones, arrangement, everything is wonderful.  I like your style big time.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

I'm looking back in the archives I suppose :). Great jazzy little song with a chorus that really pops, with a crystal clear vocal. I hear easily hear that in a Billy Joel song perhaps. Great changes and solos as well.
