Hi im thinking of moving up from my micro to a br 600 but read a review which suggested Compact Flash cards are on there way out and would be very hard to come by is this correct?

I wouldn't say CompactFlash is on the way out. The BR-600's 1GB limit on the memory card is the problem. That's considered pretty small nowadays, so they're becoming very hard to find. You'll have no trouble finding CompactFlash cards of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, or larger capacity. But finding a 1GB CompactFlash card is almost impossible. They are still available if you look hard enough, but they're very hard to find and the problem will only get worse.

If you can justify the cost difference, you'd be better off with a BR-800 for several reasons. But the main reason is that it uses SD memory cards up to 32GB. SD is currently the most popular type of memory card and they're available everywhere in a variety of sizes, so supply should not be a problem for many years to come.

Thanks
the BR-800 looks like a great machine but i don't think id be allowed to spend that much cash given i already have the Micro which although its a great little machine i miss being able to record more than one track at a time and i find it a bit fiddly

Both the Micro BR and the BR-600 can record up to 2 tracks simultaneously. The difference is that the Micro BR combines the guitar input with the mic input in mono, while the BR-600 lets you record them as two separate channels to separate tracks. To record to two separate tracks with the Micro BR, you have to use the Line In or Ext Mic inputs instead of the guitar input and internal mic. If you want to plug in an electric guitar, you'll need a mixer or preamp with a high impedance input and a stereo Line Out. Both the Micro BR and the BR-600 have limitations on the effects you can use while recording two tracks simultaneously. The selected effect is applied to both channels, which usually isn't what you want. The BR-600 has a SIMUL input mode which lets you apply different effects to the guitar and the vocals, but the effects available are only a subset of what's available in the other input modes. Alternatively, you could record dry, then apply any effect you like while bouncing.

The BR-800 can record up to 4 tracks simultaneously.
