I used to do alot of just plain old 4-track cassette recording - no bouncing, nothing fancy.  The BR make this just as easy but often the effects and such really bring the first try to life without any other outboard gear.   8)

Backup and labelling the cassette was another big pain back then... Of course, today you can lose all your work with a PC crash or a fried SD card.  :-[

The BR is almost science fiction compared to my days of over-dubbed tape cassettes and Fostex 4-tracking, but there's one thing that never changes: INSPIRATION + PERSPIRATION is the only dynamic that counts. Even with the BR, you've still got to have the song and the effort / motivation to record it.
