Hi!

In an effort to re-organize, I'm posting something which, while it's old to me, you've never heard it before.  Written & recorded in February 2009, it was my second MIDI project experimenting with Power Chords and sounds that were new to me at the time. It was created using Samplitude Music Studio 2008.  The organ sound was a free plugin called "Organized Trio".  I hope to get to listen to and comment on some of your newer stuff in the next few days.  I see it goes back several pages.  You guys are very prolific.  I'm also hoping, as I'm on vacation (AKA "Holiday" to those across the pond) to work on something new myself.  At any rate, please enjoy;

Look B4U Leap.  ;)

Look B4U Leap

Something sinister has begun
Your callous heart has me all undone
You cannot look me in the eyes
Are you afraid I'll see through all your lies
I know you're thinking to set me free
Cos you no longer have a use for me
But woman maybe best think twice
What other man could melt your heart of ice?
I know you wouldn't last living alone on your own
You never seem to learn from the past
When your weakness showed.

Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap
Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap

You really need me more than you think
When your emotions hold you on the brink
of losing everything you hold dear
You'll need me there to see you through the fears
I know you love to play your little games
You try to make me feel so ashamed
But in the back of your mind you know
You'll surely reap everything that you sow
The lonely nights can be so cold
Living a farce can quickly grow old
You're not as strong as you tell yourself
Your made up world will quickly melt

Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap
Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap

Such as casualty of pride and vanity
You will cling to me
(You can't leave me)
You have grown to hate
And not appreciate
You've denied your fate
(You're so blind)

If you think you're so very wise
Go right ahead and push me aside
Maybe you'll wind up winning afterall
But who'll be there after your mighty fall
You never were too good at swallowing pride
Even after all inside you has died
After the well of elation has dried
There will be nothing left but tears to cry
Have the mind to admit
What I've said all along
Let your own common sense come back in
To stop you thinking you're right when you're wrong

Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap
Whoa.  You'd better look before you leap

You have put these very different parts well together! Hardn rock riffs turnned to a synth/80's pop and this works fine, John! Melodic and powerful! Well done!

This is really, really good. I enjoyed it all the way. I think it sounds like a long-lost radio hit from the 80's, and I mean that in a good way. Everything is very polished and beautifully put together. Great instrumentation and an excellent vocal. Some clever little production touches along the way too, especially on the distorted backing vox. What a fine piece of work.

Hey, John! Glad to see you have emerged, and I hope all is well with you.

I agree with Tim, this could be some cool lost hit from the 80's. The vocal delivery is fantastic, and I love the synth lead work. Sounds a little like Greg Hawkes in places.

Well done, excellent tune!

Love the opening, especially the little bass flurries.

I like the way it then, unexpectedly, goes into an 80's type verse...sounds fantastic.

Am noticing the strings in the pre-chorus section as well, subtle and very effective.

I think I am going to have a few more listens of this to appreciate it even more.
