the original version of this song was done on my daughters £10 childs guitar purchased from ikea a few xmas ago. compare it here https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=7520.0

for this version i borrowed my mate stix's  legacy led30ce electroacoustic. didnt have a battery for the pick up so recorded via onboard mic. twice, first time using fornylon setting then using one of the ag settings. tho its a better guitar my playing/strumming is still quite childlike. vox then done with fornylon.

not sure if its any better than original version but here it is anyway.

no point in pretending
it wont go away
like a monkey on your shoulder
its here to stay

you know you cant just run away
an actor moves to centre stage
the words are written on the page
and you dont know which part to play

whats the point in burning effigies
if they wont go up on the fire
lets pour more petrol on your bleeding wounds
and build a bigger funeral pyre

you know you cant just run away
an actor moves to centre stage
the words are written on the page
and you dont know which part to play
a man at the back
shouts
anarchy
the house erupts
the lion roars
they are queueing up to eat the canapes
and someones  shouting out for more

whit goes oan in ma heid

Sometimes it,s not about how good the guitar player is, but you sound so good to me. This tune has such a great sound, it all down to the vox and songwriting, a great tune full stop.....

Freaking Sweet!

One Thing....
A little Less reverb on the Guitar would be cool (Did I Just say that!?!?!  ???)...
The Guitar is great and too good to hide with reverb...

Love The Monkey reference you slipped in!

Superb Tune Jim!

Another listen to this, even better than the first time, this acoustic sound really suits your vox, killer.

I'm trying to pick which version I prefer, but can't. Both versions are equally beautiful, but the first one sounds more intimate.

There is something special about using a really inexpensive guitar and creating a song that moves people.

The second one is top notch stuff though Jim, so, I can't really choose.
Beautiful song.

I remember this from last May. I haven't heard many songs where you play guitar. I downloaded the original and have listened it many times. You have written so many songs and I like this a lot - one of the best from you. The chord progression is impressive and your voice is really good on this. Yes it is always good...

May I propose a own acoustic gtr on the wishlist ;) Wanna hear more music like this!!

Sounds great to me too, Jim!!  Great lyrics, vocals, and i think the guitar sounds much more full !  Still dig your first, more intimate "live" version, where this one sounds more studio :~)
