Quote from: Willie Wendon on August 11, 2010, 09:01:17 AMAlthough I only said it as a joke and am now slightly embarassed by it, this song definitely deserves a Golden Willie Award.
It encapsulates everything I've thought about this site since I joined...............Willie

Ha, love it! The dome of excellence!!

A Song for my Friends
Words and music by Geir Alfsen

This is a song for all my friends around the world
This is a song for all the friends I've never met
It's not a song about Jupiter and Mars
But if we gather up some airplanes and cars
We could meet in Kari's hut, or in mine

This is a song for all my friends around the world
This is a song for all the friends I've never met
It's not a song about a cold and lonely place
And not a song about somewhere in outer space
It's about a cabin in the woods or a cabin by the sea

This is a song about a dream of meeting up
A song about a cabin or a hut
Seeing friends you've never seen
Having a drink and a laugh and
Singing a song about the city and the sea and the woods (and the monkeys)

This is a song I would like to sing with you
This is a song where you could play your ukes
You'd play your Junos, you'd play your guitars
You'd play your mandos, you'd play your baby sitar
And your harp, and your flute, and your self-made jumbo lute
And sing in harmony
Harmony
Ah...

This is a song about a dream that will come true
A dream recurring every time I think of you
When days get darker, and hills are steep
When nights get longer, and valleys deep
We will meet, and have a feast

This is a song for all my friends around the world
This is a song for all my friends around the world
This is a song for all my friends
This is a song for all my friends
This is a song for all my friends
Around the world
Around the world

Thanks 64g. That is 100% correct. :) only phone at cabin now, so I'm really grateful that you typed it in for me. When I get back I can post a mix with just the guitars and post the chords too if anyone wants them.

And thanks again for all kind comments!

Quote from: oldrottenhead on August 10, 2010, 11:06:27 AMbeen listening to this all day, i think we should all add to this with lots of vocals gnasty planted a seed with me i was think we could all sing along like on we are the world kinda stylee, with mr alfsen's permission of course.
whaddyathink?

I think this song is a masterpiece as it is. So perhaps, rather than adding to it, people could post their own interpretation of it in the Songcrafter Tributes board? I bet we'd get some really amazing covers of this wonderful song.

I thought that too, at first. But then I heard "or in mine" following it, listened again, and twigged.
