Really great listen.  The sparse chording in the background adds quite a bit. I thought of Local Hero as well, but I just watched it again recently. Maybe I'm being haunted subliminally.

I don't mean to be dense, but what is the melody instrument?  I thought it was acoustic initially, but at times it sounded like a banjo, mandolin, or dobro.
