Quote from: cuthbert on July 31, 2010, 09:47:06 AMExcellent job on this, Mark - one of my early faves from 'Rubber Soul', and not an easy one to play. Your guitar and vocals sound great!

I love this BeatlesFest!

Agreed!! But isn't this from 'Help!'?

                                henwrench

In the U.K., it first appeared on Help! (released 6 August 1965).
In the U.S., it first appeared on Rubber Soul (released 6 December 1965).

According to Wikipedia:

"I've Just Seen a Face" is a song by The Beatles. It appears on their 1965 UK album Help!, although in the United States it and "It's Only Love" first appeared on the Capitol version of the Rubber Soul album.

and...

Capitol Records chose it as the lead track of the US edition of Rubber Soul, with the intent of giving the album a strong folk sound in step with the then-current Folk Rock movement.

What a strange world we live in.... so what about all them re-issues that came out last year? Does anyone know, did EMI release different versions for different sides of the pond? How collectable would they become? I was disappointed the Red and Blue albums weren't included in the package, 'cos pesonally for me, those two compilations count amongst my earliest memories of music and my mother explaining to me how important these records were. I was only about 4. Old mama henwrench set me on the Right Path...

Your mama was right! My mum had only one Beatles record: 'Meet The Beatles' (another Capitol Release) - I played that one out when I was a tyke.

For the new Beatles CDs (in the states, anyway), they offer two different box sets: the original British albums and track listings, and a U.S. album/track listing. I haven't bought either, but I'd buy the British if I were to pick one. As far as I know, the individual new CDs are all the ones with the Brit track listings.

It's on the 'Yesterday and Today' (aka 'Butcher Baby') LP. Mine's a Seventies print so I know there's no 'Butcher Baby' cover lying in wait under a pasted 'Yesterday and Today' pic...  :(

I haven't heard the new Beatles Capitol Records box, but I'd bet it's the same mix.

Ha, no prob, bro! I was actually enjoying the education! I had on an old tape of it for the longest time and never knew what album it was from.

When I Wiki'd it before I did the cover, I think it did say the song was from the "Help" album, so I enjoyed the history you guys added. My folks never had a complete Beatles album, just a bucketfull of old 45's, and you could never tell anything from those!
