great minds etc I have just bought a cherry red Epiphone SG bass from ebay for £85 its great cos its a short scale.....which means the neck is similar diamensions to a 6 string....... perfect for knocking out a quick bass line......

I would love a private stock PRS with hsh and coil tap .......

Getting the urge to try a Taylor 200 series electro-acoustic. It's a low end Taylor, but should still be way better than anything else I've ever owned. This might be the weekend. The problem is that if I sit down and play one, I'll be hypnotised into handing my credit card over. And then I'll slowly be paying it off for five years.

It will be interesting to see how a Taylor compares to other brands. I'm keeping an open mind - it will all come down to how they sound (both plugged in and natural) on the day. I have a shortlist - Taylor, Seagull, Simon & Patrick and my old favourite Takamine.

Aren't guitars tempting????!

I was sorely tempted by an Aria 5 string fretless last Saturday while Greeny and I were trawling the guitar shops ......

Thankfully his young lad needed to go and I was dragged out of the shop.

Just pull the frets off that Schecter. G'wan, you know you want to....  ;)

Cheers,

There is no way that I'm pulling the frets out of my Schecter!

The fingerboard on these modern fretless basses is as hard as nails. It's not like a rosewood fretboard at all. they just feel nice!

I just bought my new electro-acoustic. I only work 10 mins from Denmark Street in London, so I've been trying quite a few different brands during my lunchtimes... Taylor, Simon and Patrick, Yamahas, Freshman... I've lost count. At one point I almost gave up because I'd play these new ones then go home and play my Ibanez, and it didn't really sound that far adrift from much more expensive guitars. But today I stumbled across a load of Tanglewoods that ranged from very cheap to pretty expensive. I picked this one off the wall and started playing it. It was love at first strum  :D

So here it is. The finish may not appeal to some, but I liked it. And pictures don't do it justice. It's an all solid-wood guitar - solid mahogany top, back and sides, with tortoise-shell binding.

Another thing to mention - you can really hammer down the price at the moment. I got a hard case thrown into the bargain too.

Want to go home and play it now!

Congrats, that looks very nice.  I bet she is beautiful up close.  Solid mahogany will give you a real deep rich harmonically complex sound for sure.  This will get better sounding every time you play it, so play it a lot  :D.  Sweet.  Lets hear it in action. Good one.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places
