Sounds like it was done in a "real" studio with a team of recording Engineers pouring over every detail.  You could make money with production skills like this one would think.

Cuthbert- The sound you are talking about is my attempt to emulate what they did on the original recording which is a glisssando...sliding a finger up the string of an old fiddle while making one long downstroke with the bow, double or tripple tracked with some delay added.
The drums were played with drumsticks on an electronic kit (Yamaha DTXpress) but I had to do the kick, snare, toms and cymbals one at a time on separate tracks because I can't make my hands and feet move like that at the same time.    

Another trick copied from the original was to record the piano break at a slower speed... so when played back at normal speed it's just about impossibly fast.
