Sunday afternoon, my wife went to work for 3:00, my son was over at his friends house, sweet, the damn place to myself for a few hours.  I got to it and got this one done.  Of course I am still playing around with my new mandolin, I can't put the damn thing down.  So this is my take on this great song, done as quick as possible on a Sunday evening.  At least I got one in for the fest, now, lets see what else strikes my fancy.

8 Days a Week (Beatlesfest)

I know what you mean about the mandolin, what a cool instrument!!!   Recently had a chance to play one a couple of times over a week visiting family members at the beach.  The tuning (just like the violin) allows for symetrical scales all through the strings.  Two, three, and four finger chord formations go all up and down the neck, so a little learning and you're off to the races.  A great sound and a logical instrument.

I can't put anything together in a Sunday evening.  You did well.

Fantastic version, Dave!! That mandolin is perfect on your version and you play it very well!! Liked the harmonies in chorus, too!

This is great! The mandolin treatment is inspired. Damn, you've mastered that instrument FAST. There's a nice gentle, folky feel to the song now. And a mandolin solo? WOW!!!! MIGHTY FINE. Onto listen number 2....

It's got a Maritime flair...!
Reminds me of partying at Fundy Park.

Sounds great!

Oh, man this is good. Great bass, vocals, the lot. But best of all is the feel. Bang on Berry...

Well done - lots of interesting ideas here, Dave...maybe the Beatles should have used some mandolin!

I get almost a bluegrass feel from your take...I imagine this might be what The Band would have sounded if they had covered 'Eight Days a Week'.

Now I love this. You didn't take long to own the mando man. WOW! That's the way to do a cover Dave, it's fantastic.
