BR800 & MBR Song Files

I'm sure I could find the answer to this if I looked hard enough, but I'm doing a collab with a BR800 owner and was wondering if anyone knew if MBR song files could be loaded into a BR800.

And, to top it off, can the BR900 Rhythm Editor be used to make drum tracks for the BR800.

Thanks!

Probably not, though I can't say for sure until I get a copy of someone's BR-800 backup so I can look at the data file structure. The BR-800 manual says nothing about file compatibility with other BRs, which leads me to believe there probably isn't any, as the manuals for other BRs do talk about compatibility.

Your best bet is to export your tracks as WAV files using the BR Wave Converter. Then your collab-mate can import those WAV files into individual tracks in his BR-800 using the BR-800 Wave Converter.

Possibly, but I can't say for sure until I get a copy of the BR-800 Rhythm Editor and some sample data from a BR-800. From what I've seen so far (rhythm editor manual and screenshots), there doesn't seem to be any difference between the BR-800 Rhythm Editor and the BR-600/864/900 Rhythm Editor. Although, there could be differences in the file layouts for the BR-800 drums. Give it a try and let us know if it works.

I've recently been given 6 .wav files done on a MBR, of which 4 i imported into my BR-800 as tracks , then proceeded to mix down to stereo tracks 7-8 so i could import the remaining two .wav files with them, the mastering screen is telling me that the two v-tracks contain data , but when i playback , the meters only move a fraction ,and there is no sound , does this mean it wont work

During mastering, the overall recording level is controlled by the Master fader. Set it according to the L R level meters at the far right of the display. If the Master fader is set too high, you'll get clipping distortion on the resulting 2-track recording. If it's too low, the playback level will be low and the signal-to-noise ratio will be reduced (although, with digital recording, it might not be very noticeable). I suspect that you had the Master fader too low while mastering.

Of course, the individual track faders also affect the master recording level. You should first set their relative levels to achieve the desired mix. Then, determine which of the track faders is set the highest and adjust it for the optimum level according to the corresponding track level meter (1 to 8). Now make any necessary final adjustments to the remaining track faders to maintain the desired mix. Note that only one of the tracks is set for optimum level according to the corresponding level meter. The remaining tracks may be at less than optimum recording levels in order to get the desired mix. That's okay as long as the loudest track is set for optimum recording level. Once all of the track faders are set correctly, then set the Master fader level for the optimum overall recording level according to the L R level meters.
