ive listened to both mixes now, my preference is the first mix like steveb says
QuoteYour earlier version was nigh-on perfect in its subtlety

but i like the second mix too but as it gets nears the end i find that mix too intrusive.

by the way i could listen to both mixes and tharek's original all day long.

Quote from: Ferryman on July 22, 2010, 09:28:12 AMI can hear the kind of cavernous "crash" which may be a processed snare or a low piano note.

I copped that idea from "A Bridge Over Troubled Water" -S&G

When that song was recorded they most certainly used a plate reverb on the snare.
i used a plate in my lexicon plugin

as far as the mix goes, I might take another shot at it. I thought the first one was alright-except the stereo placement did need addressing

I was being very careful with this song because i felt it was perfect without my stuff added to it. It's just that this melody was stuck in my head-over and over-and these parts i kept hearing -especially that lonely sound fr horn-and the piano too

i scrapped a electric guitar build up in it-around the 2nd verse-that was over the top

btw- i removed the very last snare hit in the 2nd version-it sounded out of place to me in the 1st

I'm just happy that i got some music mojo working again.

anyone who wants to collaborate-let me know

one last note- the original track was a one off-it had its issues technically as T admits-but man it it's off the charts in the emotion category. Keeping in that same spirit, i didnt do a bunch retakes on the parts-as i often do-just subtracted anything that didnt fit-there were a couple timing issues i did fix, other than that what you you hear is what you get as far my performances.
this is something i have to work on as a songwriter-overdoing and over thinking. It hamstrings me to the point that i dont finish anything

it was therapeutic.

Thanks for encouragement-i respect you guys most

Ron

I always wonder after listening to previous Tharek songs, that he will not be able to top them...but he keeps doing it. This one is already right up there with the best of them, and the additions made here by Guitarron give it even more emotive power.

I would love any version of this song!

This is so beautiful it can make a grown man cry !!!!

I have listened A LOT to Thareks original "bare" version, and when I hear you were gonna add something to it I was sceptical. But man I was proven wrong, the additions just fullfills the great song and give it even more depth!

Absolutely one of my favourite songs here or anywhere !!!!
