I'd like to thank you all for input regarding the mix of this song- mastering has allways been tough for me.
in response to Ferryman- I changed the stereo orientation and bumped the levels as suggested. Thank you for the constructive critique.

I used Garritan Personal Orchestra in Sonar with my Axiom49 controller- the articulation of the samples are quite impressive- i'm just beginning to wrap my head aroung that plugin.

i had to clean up the pops from the MBR mic from the original track-tried to level off some of the peaks in it-The original track was a combined guitar -vocal mono track.

Peace

btw- Tony-don't make me come down there(i'd get beat up)

I really dig this new mix Ron. This is the way it was supposed to be from the onset (when the song was written). I love how you captured the essence of the song and built upon it. A Tharek original isn't the easiest to add to because his heartbeat is his metronome.

This is a beautiful piece now.

P.S.
We stopped beating up Michigan fans a few years ago, it's like kicking a sack full of puppies now. I'll gladly come up to see you. I'll see if I can't line up a training seminar so I can spend some time in your neck of the woods.

I listened the first version of this yesterday and prefer this! Now the strings sounds much better and gives a fine taste to this very beautiful song. Great tune and Ron you did fine job on this temix version. Downloaded this...

This is much better, the way you have arranged the strings and horn is fantatsic, this works so well. A very powerful song with a great arrangement!

I still have one niggle, but it's only very minor. I can hear the kind of cavernous "crash" which may be a processed snare or a low piano note. It sounds good but my slight niggle is that it ends very suddenly - I'd be tempted to put a bit of reverb or delay or something on it just to give it a bit more decay. But I am really being picky now!!

Great job, well done and thanks for sharing how you did it.

cheers,

Well, there's always got to be one awkward cuss, and I'm afraid herein it's me.  :-[
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the arrangement you've provided to OKO's beautiful song. But to me this version is too intrusive - or put another way, too loud. Your earlier version was nigh-on perfect in its subtlety, and it's to that version I state my allegience.
Beyond that, I can now see you being swamped by people wishing to have your sonic enhancements and arrangements adorning their works on this (and other) Forums. Whatever techniques and wizardry you are employing, they have worked matchlessly here (apart from the volume  :) ).
Between yourself and Osckilo, I suggest you have created a perfect pop song. Well done both of you.

I've listened to both. Wonderful treatment and tasteful additions. This is an extremely powerful song in melody and emotion and you've made it even better some how. Great work!

The orchestration is right up there with "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins.

Powerful song there friend.  I like it a lot.  I'm a big fan of fingerpicking and you do it well and to good effect here.

The trasnitions from fingerpicking to chording on the nylon string guitar are the main marker of a building and higher energy section of the song that seems to come and go.  The transitions are good and effectively matched with lyrics.  I have two suggestions.   In the chording sections, perhaps you could build it even bigger by changing to or adding a steel string acoustic or electric guiutar, or by using chords in the violin parts, or even piano chords.  However you might accomplish it, my suggestion is to make the bigger sections even bigger.  My other suggestion is to do fewer of them.  Transitioning to a more full sound is an effective device, but is more effective if not done too many times.  This might be determined by the lyrics,  just a thought.

This is a really good song as it is.  You obvoiusly have a lot of work in it and its well done.  Thanks for posting.
