This song is dedicated to the idiot executives at BP oil.
It took them almost three months to stop oil from gushing into the Gulf of Mexico at a rate of about 200,000 gallons a day. Living here in Mississippi, I know people whose livelihood  are ruined and there will be many more people affected  from Louisiana to Florida and beyond. We will not know for years what impact  this has on the ocean and the creatures living in it.
But now I will step down off my soapbox.

I wanted to write a song about this disaster and it started out as a  angry, kind of protest song. But after hearing some of these executives from BP talking like everything is gonna be fine.
I decided to write a song for them. A happy, fun song with a summer feel. A bouncy, everything's fine song.
Oil, what oil?     :)
So I wrote a sarcastic song for them.

When I started writing this song the title was "Tar Ball Beach" but I changed it to "Fubar Beach". For those of you who don't know "Fubar" is an acronym that stands for " Fu##ed up beyond all recognition". So I think it fits the situation well.
I know the song is very repetitive but I really wanted the words to stand out and I wanted to use keyboards which I hardly ever do because I am just learning how to play. So anyway enough of my rant, I just wanted people to know I am not making fun of the situation. I am using sarcasm to show how bad the spill really is. I hope you enjoy the song and Thank You for listening.

Dave

FUBAR  BEACH  BY   DAVID    BRIDE    c2010

Driving down to my favorite spot,
On the ocean where the sun is hot,
No one else on the beach today,
They all been told to stay away,
A little billion gallon oil spill,
They say it's gonna make you ill,
But I think its fine you see,
Not gonna bother me,

Going down to Fubar Beach,
Got the whole place to myself you see,
This really is the place to be,
Down on Fubar Beach

Found a front row parking spot,
It's early but its getting hot,
Cause they lit the gulf on fire,
Sit and watch the flames grow higher,
No seagulls gonna bother me,
No jellyfish or crabs bite me,
They're all dead and gone away,
Nothing left here today,

Going down to Fubar Beach,
Got the whole place to myself you see,
This really is the place to be,
Down on Fubar Beach

Come down here and enjoy yourself,
Don't worry about your health,
There's nothing here that's spoiled,
It's just a little oil,
Come down here on the sand,
It's an oil covered wonderland,
Best vacation we've had yet,
Just don't light that cigarette,

Going down to Fubar Beach,
Got the whole place to myself you see,
This really is the place to be,
Down on Fubar Beach,

Come down here on the water,
There's no familys, no teeny boppers,
Just me and old Jolly Roger,
Loving the oil and water,
Come down here on the sand,
It's an oil covered wonderland,
Best vacation we've had yet,
Just don't light that cigarette,

Well done, Dave - an ironic song with a happy, Del Shannon-feel to the music, and yet expresses a sad but true commentary on a huge environmental disaster.

The oil spill and the way it's been handled has been clusterf*ck of incredible proportions...

Nice one Dave, I like the "Fubar Beach" phrase, it sums up the issue nicely and works well inthe song lyrics. Great tune as well, good bit of biting satire here. Very enjoyable tune with nice sharp lyrics, well done.

i read recently the concept for the cap(the most recent one that seems to be working) was submitted to BP by a plumber- a regular blue-collar Joe

Great lines. I really like how you put a beach boys or Buffett type of a feel to it without going over the top. The vibe sound did it I think.
I love sarcastic songs and this didn't disappoint.

Great songwriting Dave, I enjoyed the song about a pathetic situation. The lyrics are fantastic.
