Taking the next step

So I've owned my Micro BR for about 2 years now, Recorded, mixed and mastered about 30 or so songs on it, but through the progression I learned about ripping the tracks and then working with them in a DAW, so on and so forth.

Well I decided to take the next step, and bought the M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI card. In a nutshell it's an 10 in / 10 out 24bit/96kHz full duplex audio interface card for your home computer. This card is amazing for the price. It took me an afternoon to get it all set up, but I now have the whole band mic'd up and everyone has thier own seperate channels.

It also has MIDI so I was able to easily set up a software synth and control it with an external cheap keyboard, send it to the master out, and easily add pink floyd sounding awesomeness to the main mix coming out of the PA.

Also, I'd never heard of "Ableton Live" before, but a light version came with this card, and after trying it out, I am sold on it as the DAW I will be using for recording. Recording 10 tracks simultaniously with almost zero latency and almost no CPU usage because the card handles it all just makes me grin, and the sound quality is so clear. Best of all, with a 2 Terabyte hard drive I will be pressed to ever run out of space again with working on material.

Anyways just wanted to share my experience with those here. If your looking for taking the next step into multitrack recording in a band situation, this card is definately the way to go. Once I get some free time I'll post up some samples.

Sounds great.  How much did it cost to set up?  Make sure you back up the hard drive.  2 terabytes sounds like a lot work to lose - if you ever fill it up.
