Quote from: cuthbert on July 12, 2010, 08:38:29 AMI didn't know about Samuel Palmer's work previously; thanks for adding his painting - reminds me of William Blake (one of my favorites)

Funny you should say that... he met Blake and was very influenced by him. In fact, you could say that he was one of Blake's followers. This painting used to be exhibited with all the Blake works in a darkened room in the old Tate Gallery (still might be...). It's a very small painting in real life, but it has a weird power. Very, very deep.

As has already been said, a great piece of story telling played and sung to perfection,  Interesting subject matter which I wouldn't have thought of touching. Superb. Yet another download for when I get home.  Willie

Brilliant stuff chaps.  Love the unusual chord sequence at the end - I almost typed "weird" but I didn't want to offend.  I like weird!

Haven't had time to listen to much recently - work gets in the way even for me on occaisions.  This was the first delve I've done recently - what a place to start.

Superb stuff, it's great to hear "dodgy" subject matter dealt with in such a melodic way.

A masterclass in songwriting here.

Really loving the guitar work in this one, and how it interweaves so well with the vocals (which are as fantastic as ever).

The bass holds the song together brilliantly too.

This has got to be in my Greeny Top 5.

This is an excellent collab. It kind of represents the best of the site.  Great collaborations of some of the best people here. Thank you for sharing.

Tim was really unsure about posting this song, keen not to offend.

But it's a great story, and a great tune. Tim sent it to me nearly a year ago to put some bass on, I rediscovered it in my email recently and re-did it, encouraging Tim to post it. I'm glad he did.

It's great Tim.

Classic Greeny sound, clear as a bell, excellent production, FH,s bass is the glue that holds it all together, just a great listen, must be must for one of your albums.

Brilliant... just... brilliant.

Last time I was on here regularly, you were suffering "possible drying-up, run out of ideas" or "am I any good" type self-doubts...

And you had this up your sleeve! Just keep going :)

By the way, under your avatar - is that just a Wolfie Smith reference, or have you moved?

Very good indeed! Great lyrics, very well delivered. Its a subject that, well, I find fascinating that so many fall for. Great playing throughout.  That painting is amazing too.
