Great skills on each part, Dave!! That chorus is so catchy, mandolin and harmonica sounded very beautiful. Loved that soft sound of the acoustic guitar! Fine tune and performance, Dave!!

Great song Dave.  Love the guitar, harmonica and mandolin.  Great lyrics sang with feeling another masterpiece from you my friend.

Thanks for all the great comments.  For the structure of this song I was thinking about bluegrass, where you have a verse and then a solo then antoher verse and then another solo, etc. Everybody gets a chance to have their little solo.  And no drums, bass is ok but there is never any drums in bluegrass.  That was the idea, a bunch of guys sitting around and everybody gets to have a solo.  For the chorus I wanted the feel to be heavier and darker, muddy almost, like being stuck in the mud sorta.  That end solo was supposed to be all the anguish left in the dude exploding over.  I get a kick out of songs like this, they sound sunny and bright but the lyrics tell a dark tale, bluegrass is full of songs like this.  That was the idea, to make a sorta bluegrass song without it being bluegrass, just have that vibe.  I wasn't sure what to think of this when done, I did it pretty quick.  Thanks for all the great comments.

Sounds to my ears that you have been playing mandolin for years!!

You always seem to craft your songs perfectly and you always seem to know when to leave space and when to add further musical touches.

That acoustic sounds superb too.

Another winner!

I thought it was The Band on the intro! You've mastered the mandolin straight away, and it works a treat on this. Such a great rootsy, folky feel. Beautiful playing and composition. Sheer quality all the way, and a great vehicle for all your musical and production talents to shine bright. I think you're going to have a lot of fun with your new toy...  ;)

I was going to put a mando and harmonica song of mine on here today, but I feel a bit sheepish about it now, lol  :D
