Backup Data on BR1200

OK then

If Ive got a completed song on the BR1200 and some that are work in progress and others that are shockingly awful can I just take a copy of the completed Song Folders that I want to keep or do I have to back up the whole thing.

Reading the manual it sounds like you can only back up the whole drive.

I know I could convert all the tracks to Wav files and back up selected song that way but it takes an age

You can backup a song to a CD (see page 226 of the BR-1200 manual, 6th edition). If you want to use USB instead, backup a song to CD first, then look at the files and folders that are on the CD. If you copy those same files and folder from the BR-1200 to your computer via USB, it should work. Try a test restore to verify that you've got all the necessary files and folders.
