Mastering: 12v2 ?

My last ? for a while.  Mastering 12v2?  Does this mean that that 2 separate tracks the second part are being put on tracks 1 & 2.

If I have 4 tracks and want to put them on tracks 1  & 2 would it read 12v4?   I don't understand what the 12v2 means.....that is crucial to understand.  HELP.

QuoteMastering 12v2?  Does this mean that that 2 separate tracks the second part are being put on tracks 1 & 2.

The Micro BR can play back only four tracks at a time. But each of the four tracks is comprised of eight virtual tracks, one of which is selected at all times. "12v2" means virtual track 2 of tracks 1 and 2.

QuoteIf I have 4 tracks and want to put them on tracks 1  & 2 would it read 12v4?

It depends on which v-tracks are currently selected for the four tracks, and what (if anything) is on the other v-tracks. When you create a new song, v-track 1 is selected by default for each of the four tracks (so: 1v1, 2v1, 3v1, & 4v1). If you haven't changed the default v-track selection at any point, then all of the other v-tracks should be empty and you can select any pair for the mastering destination (12v2, 12v3, 12v4, ... 12v8, 34v2, 34v3, ... 34v8).

Tip: Start with v-track 8 as the destination for mastering and bouncing and work back through v7, v6, etc. for subsequent bounces and mastering. That way, it's very easy to distinguish them from your base v-tracks in the BR Wave Converter. The base v-tracks will be at the top of the grid (v-track 1) and work downward, while the bounce targets will be at the bottom (v-track 8 ) and work upward.

It's also useful to keep a track sheet handy so you can jot down what's on each v-track as you record them. See this message from Hooper as an example:

https://songcrafters.org/community/post-your-work/cowgirl-in-the-sand/msg3362/#msg3362

Hooper also provided a blank track sheet which you can print out here:

https://songcrafters.org/community/post-your-work/cowgirl-in-the-sand/msg3365/#msg3365

And Indiana posted a track sheet he designed here:

https://songcrafters.org/community/post-your-work/cowgirl-in-the-sand/msg3365/#msg3365

Or, you can use the track sheet from the back of the Micro BR manual.

QuoteI don't understand what the 12v2 means.....that is crucial to understand.

Yes, it is crucial. See this page to get a better understanding of v-tracks:

https://songcrafters.org/64guitars/BR/Tutorials/V-Tracks_and_Bouncing.html

It's written for the BR-864, but the concept is identical for the Micro BR except that the Micro BR only has four tracks instead of eight.

Also, the diagram in this message and the paragraph above it might help:
