Gotta stop doin' this....
Re-recorded to a click, closer mic'ed, more lyrics, shorter in length but maybe lost some of the feel of the original. I dunno, I'll let you chaps decide...

I love that intro and outro sonar kind of whine (not sure how to describe it...). This version feels tighter and more intimate. It's a hard one to call, because the home-recorded, ramshackle kind of vibe to the original had a charm that fitted the song well. But weighing it all up, I'll go with this one. I love both versions to tell you the truth! I guess this feels like the album version versus the original demo. But what do I know?!

Didn't hear the 1st one yet but like this a lot!  Very nice vocals going there.  Really pulls you into the vibe and holds you.  I'll admit I kept waiting for it to break out heavy or something for contrast but that's just me. :)

Just took the pepsi challenge and listened to these back to back. This new version is definitely an improvement - to my ears at least. What I do know is that this song just gets better and better with each listen. It feels like another stand-out track to me.

I've just listened to Greenies "Zodiac" and now this and I still find it hard to believe the sheer amount of variety to be found on one site. I think this is just great. Willie

Yes, I agree with Tim.  You can't go wrong listening to "golden ears" Tim.  Nice, now George Harrison is doing a little jig up there in Nirvana land.  I really like the simple beauty of this.  This is the version to hang on to.

I'm going to say the first track, just for the organic homey feel to it as Tim pointed out. I like both versions, but the "sonar wine" was a distraction to me, since it's a uke/vox song.

on second listen, hmmmm I don't know.  The indecision is killing me here.

'Sonar Whine' was added in Audacity, using it's noise generator. I kinda liked it, 'cos I'd found a new toy, but I know that novelty can be distracting and slighty dangerous.
My uke is my second one. My first was a real cheapy (£20) and mysteriously imploded one night. So after months of not having one, but missing it, I sold some CD's, dug deep into my pockets (taxi driving pays real shitty) and splashed out on a £40 one (ouch).
Anyone thinking of gettin' one, just get one. The £20 one's are more than usable, sound and play great... just don't let the tuning bother you too much! Because they're so highly strung, the tuning is always less than perfect, but that's the nature of the sound. I tune mine in C (GCEA).
As soon as anyone bites the bullet and buys one, I'll tell ya the chords I used in this...
