One of the many songs done a few months / weeks / days ago that hasn't been posted. This is all done on the MBR with acoustic & electric guitars, bass and piano. I took a couple of lines / lyrical ideas from Voltaire's 'Candide'. I hope he doesn't mind, lol  :D :D :D

Beautiful, lush Green in my ears. Sounds stunningly good, like a record I should have owned, back when records were good. A cracker.... why you didn't post it the nano-second it was completed, only you will know.

I sometimes need an evaluation period for certain songs. I think this one didn't get posted (at the time) because it was amongst several others that got recorded / posted, and I didn't want to swamp the forum. Probably. I'm always on to the next song even before I've finished the one I'm working on...!

Love it, and help me out with something...how do you get the acoustic sounding so full, and well, present.  How far away from the MBR do you have it?  Please tell...and the bass sounds great too! Super stuff.

Okay to cover...not sure why you'd want to though...

I dig this one. It has sort of an acoustic-Stonesy vibe to it, and great lyrical imagery. And how often to you get a reference to Dr. Pangloss in song?

This was recorded with an electro-acoustic on the MIC + GTR setting - i.e. with the guitar plugged in and through the mic at the same time. it gave a nice live 'ring' to the tone. I also used a fair bit of reverb to get the sound I wanted. If I'm using the in-built mic to record, I like to have the MBR on a table and the soundhole as close to the mic as possible. Another thing I like to do is have two layers of acoustic to get a really lush sound: this generally means that one of them will be panned far left with a sh*tload of reverb to add a different sound to the main layer. It sounds like I used a fair bit of treble on the guitar controls too - not something I always do, but it seemed to work on this one when it's offset by the bass.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Greeny...I don't have an electro/acoustic, but doing a hard pan for one of the tracks sounds like a good idea I'll try...I always pan the tracks the same amount ( cause that's what I thought you were supposed to do! ).  Thanks again and Cheers!

This is Very Nice.  It is strange - and it's probably me but on quite a few songs I've heard a "Lindesfarne" influence in the accompaniment.  I'm not even sure if the artists even know who they were, so they couldn't have been an influence, so it must just be in my head.  Still whatever if I had room left on my mp3 - this would find a niche.  I'm thinking of doing a springclean on it - but I can't bear to move anything off it.
