Due to a general and extended lack of creativity, I decided to start taking old writings and putting them to new chords and melodies just to try and keep the juices flowing.
Done entirely on the Micro BR just for the challenge.
"Piano" is a second hand GR 20 guitar synth.
Shoulda done the drums with it too.
Critical comments welcome.

Loved this.

Don't like the drums - but it's something all us non precussionists are stuck with.

There's a lot of James Taylor influence in the arrangement and guitar playing.  So that's an ace in my book.

The drums don't actually sound too bad - but they do sound mechanical.  If you can introduce some variation to them by adding some reverb in places and changing the volume to give the impression of dynamics it would help.

Currently I using Acid Pro 7 as my DAW.  By importing a basic drum track into it, it gives me the options of messing with the swing for all, or parts of the song.  Not being a drummer I haven't a clue what I'm doing, but it gives me the chance to vary the sounds and giving the inorganic beats a little life - and in my case a little insanity.  Just a suggestion.  I know other daw s have similar facility.

Good song - worth the effort of a few tweaks I say.

This is a Freaking AWESOME song Glenn!!!!!!!

Everything I like in a song has been thrown in here!

It is a Heart warming home coming meal of Songwriting Goodness!

The Only time I can hear the drums aint real is on the rolls/fills... But it doesn't spoil the song for me at all....

Everything is played, sung and written to perfection!

This is going on my MP3 player!

Welcome back!

Peace

Classic songwriting of the very highest standard. There are some beautiful touches in this, and the whole thing exudes greatness. And so damn catchy on the chorus - it reminded me (a bit) of 'Do you come from the land down under', lol.

Great song!

Glenn, this is great.  I love your vocals here.  This is slightly different from what i have come to expect from you, and i like it.  Explore this kind of style more often.  Great to hear a new one from you.  This may be one of the best songs I have heard from you.  It seems you got your juices flowing.  I love the acoustic stumming underneath everything.  Production is spot on.  Soundsd like a long lost classic radio song.

My goodness...R U F ing kidding me.  This has instant Classic written all over it.
Really great lyrics and the coolest vox.
The music is outstanding and the arrangement shows much creativity.
I pray that you are going to give this song the attention richly deserves and if you are message me. I'd be more then willing to assist in any way I can.
By the way, the piano parts are too cool.
Wait a minute....

Great to hear you back Glenn, your posts are always a treat.

Really great vocal on this, one of the best I have heard from you.

The song has a tremendous hook throughout and the production, as per usual, is top class. That piano is the icing on the cake!

On my second listen now, and probably my third very soon.

Thanks so much for listening and for the comments.
Yes, when will I get the drumming thing worked out?
It's a whole complex set of instruments on it's own to learn about.
Nelson, I have to admit the one line you liked is not mine. I liked it so much it actually started the song when I read it in a financial article.
PS being a bit "wiser" does not mean I can spell.
