Yea, I know this one's been done a million times, many of them right here at songcrafters.

It was a good song for some studio stuff I wanted to work on.  One is recording the Kawai acoustic piano in my livingroom.  I used the BR-600 onboard stereo mics.  Sounds ok, but next I think I'll try the studio condenser mic.

I also wanted to play with the Nashville strings that were given to me.  Together with a regular 6 string, they make the sound of a twelve string guitar.  However, its cool to have that going, but be able to pick each guitar a little bit differently.

Nicely done, Rolow...the Nashville tuning and piano sound fantastic together, and your vocals really suit the song.

I think I'm going to have try that Nashville tuning trick myself...  :)

Yes - I love it.

Great job with the vocals, and I thought the BR600 condenser mics sounded pretty good.

I love the Gram Parsons version of this, but the Stones original 'aint bad either, lol. You absloutely nailed this!!!! Brilliant vocal, and the complimentary, chiming tones of the acoustic guitars are just beautiful.

Truly magnificent!!!!!!

OK, thanks for the nice comments, especially the vox, which still sounds shakey to me.  I'm recording them a little differently and it seems to help a bit.

Here's something I've read but haven't tried yet - a small dowel, or say, a pencil, rubber banded across the recording direction of the mic will divide the plosives and eliminate popping, while disturbing the rest of the signal less than a foam cover or a screen.  The pencil should be mounted vertically across a side entry condenser mic.

Thanks for listening,
Ron
