It's been a while since I posted any lyrics. That's because it's been a while since I've written anything. LOL! In fact, that's what this song is about. Just a simple folk song about songwriter's block.

Empty

I looked on the desk, I looked in my head
all the drawers in my dresser, and under the bed
lifted up every rock in that old garden wall
but I can't seem to find them, can't find them at all

There are none in the closet, or the trunk of my car
my computer is useless, as is my guitar
I open a book, but the pages are blank
and they can't be withdrawn from my account at the bank

Try as I may, try as I might
The words have escaped, into the dark of the night
I stare at the paper, the pen in my hand
A page full of empty, my head full of sand

Oh, how I recall, when the words flowed like wine
The pen moved itself, intervention divine
Now I sit like a stone, still scratching my head
Looking for words, finding cobwebs instead

So I continue to search, both below and above
For the words to a song that will fit like a glove
But I'm looking in places where words never hide
I'll just have to wait 'till they escape from inside

Try as I may, try as I might

Put the pen in the drawer, put the paper away
Without any words, there are no songs today
