For those of you who don't know... songfight is a site where everyone writes and records a song to a new title every 10-14 days then you can vote for all your favorite songs. The song with the most votes wins... well satisfaction of having the best songfight song. This past title was 'Dirt Nap' and Helen (a friend from London) suggested some of us do the title as a warm up for the upcoming 50 Songs in 90 Days challenge.

Open your eyes and see what I have done
I know that you'd be proud of me
You always told me I could never make it alone
But I don't need you anymore

I washed the dishes but still you would complain
I was never good enough for you
Look around. I've got to clean up now
I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

You're taking a dirt nap, honey
You'll never ever hurt me again
Now that you're laid out on the floor
You're taking a dirt nap, honey
And I won't have to feel this pain
Cuz I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

No-one notices. There's no-one left who cares
No-one to come and check on you
This is your last chance to send your last goodbye
I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

You're taking a dirt nap, honey
You'll never ever hurt me again
As I drag you out the door
You're taking a dirt nap, honey
And I won't have to feel this pain
Cuz I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

I kiss you goodbye through the tears and pain
As I dig this grave out in the rain
It's not easy for me to say goodbye
But I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

You're taking a dirt nap, honey
You'll never ever hurt me again
No, you can't hurt me anymore
You're taking a dirt nap, honey
And I won't have to feel this pain
Cuz I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

Man, what a creepy vibe - But I like it!

It's amazing all the great tunes you can produce one week at a time.

Great storytelling and I loved the vox and the guitar.

Very cool

dark, creepily atmospheric and effective! well done!

it's an interesting 'end of the story-song'- it might be interesting to go back to this character and explore what drove him to do what he did in a bit more detail.. just a thought...

music is very good at conveying the mood of the lyric, too.. and nice guitar work!

Dark and strong permormance, T.C! I listened this several times and I think this could be excellent on plugged in version, too. Well written song, again! You keep the high quality level on the song/week challenge. And I gave my vote to you...

And people say my songs are dark.  Well I've never bumped anyone off.  Yet!

The dark vibe goes right through the song.  Well done!  I think?!

WOW, what incredible intensity here.  This is like an Alt.Country dark jewel.  Spook is right.

This hooked me from the start. The lyrics are SO dark, but I like them a lot. The whole thing is handled so well. Uncluttered, well-performed and delivered with a quiet menace. I hope it's not real!!!! Lol. It's a winner.
