Second attempt at an original song on the Micro BR, and first attempt at singing.

The rhythm part was heavily influenced by Gu Djin's song After the Storm - https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=7622.0, which really grabbed my attention.

"Slipped Away"

You slipped away... x4

I know one day I'll see you again...
I know one day I'll find you again...

You slipped away...x2

This song is kinda personal.  Written for our little boy, Leon.

A beautiful song. I'm sorry to hear of your tragedy, and hope that the power of song is helping you heal some.

Great job with this.

Great one again Joe. Very atmospheric and heartfelt. The more I listen to this the more I like - on about the fourth listen now. There is a lot more going on in this than on the first hearing. Great production as well.

Gu Djin

Yes, has a great sense of baring your feelings.  Minimal vox - might have been up a bit.  Great job here.

Glad you found my guitar piece inspiring.
Guild Starfire 5, Fender Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, K Yairi and Walden and a 12 Stagg string acoustic guitar and other music making boxes - including mandolin, bouzouki and 5 string banjo, uke and acoustic bass - a few M-Audio keyboards and a flute - all played and treated with equal love and attention - zoom ut 2 pedal and Logic Pro X

Thanks all for the kind comments.

I wasn't too sure whether to post it, but because the song just kind of happened I thought I may as well.  In hindsight it's maybe a bit too personal, but there you go.

Reminds me of the cocteau twins a little, and also Jeff Buckley. Which is a cool combination, because their singer Liz Fraser and Jeff Buckley were lovers.

This is an outstanding song. The guitar work is stellar and I love the dreamy, whispered vocal. It may be deeply personal, but I'm very glad you posted it and alllowed us to listen. Some things are almost too difficult to face, but sometimes beauty comes from the strangest and darkest places.

Having another listen...

Wow, Greeny - thank you very much for your comment, although I'm not sure I'm worthy of such a compliment.

It has been on my mind that by posting the song I may have in some way detracted instead of contributed to the Songcrafters community, but hopefully that is just me feeling a bit self-conscious now after having put the song out there.

Thanks again.

Believe me, anybody who plays guitar or has any emotion in them at all will 'get' this. Both the tone and the playing are awesome.

We all start out as self-conscious. It seems like a long time ago for me, but it's still less than 2 years since I arrived and tentatively posted my first song. I was terrified! All those years of sitting in my bedroom alone and making demos that nobody heard - it was quite daunting suddenly having people able to listen and potentially be critical. So stay calm - we're all in the same boat, and we all have the same fears and insecurities. That's why this place works so well.

p.s. I'm still nervous when I post a new song or do an open mic. Any art is essentially exposing your inner world and workings, so it's an entirely natural feeling to be scared!
