Had to check out this one - it was the #2 song the week I graduated from high school in 1984. ("When Doves Cry" by Prince was #1.)
I love your version! I dig the different synth sounds, but also the washes of acoustic as well. And your vocal and the insistent metronomic rhythm remind me of "Da Da Da," a synth/dance song I enjoyed in college.
Very fun!

how the hell did i miss this. the drums on the vltone are bringing back fond memories of my 1st steps in making music, i used that beat to death before progressing to gaffer taping a stereo recorder sony walkman onto record with record button taped down and throwing it into the tumble drier for 3 or 4 minutes to get our drum track.

did i say this is braw.

Gotta say I hate the original with a passion. This cover is (at least) a hundred times better in my book. I love the VL-tone retro beats especially (I started on one of those in 1981!). I don't know how this works exactly, but it sure does. Brilliant and inspired. Love that crazy ending too.
