In 1901 a huge fire destroyed most of downtown Jacksonville, Fl. I read this story back in 1990 right after I moved to the area. Shortly after, I joined an original band here and I wrote this song about the fire. It was quite different back then and has went through numerous changes. We never got around to putting the song together to record it, so 18 years later I pull it back out and send it to my bud Mike Nunley for some of his excellent vocals. Here's a link to a brief history of the event.

A song which held my interest all the way through and if you know someone with better vocals than yours he would have to be pretty exceptional.  Great Job.   Willie

Thanks so much for all the great comments fellas. This song holds a special place in my heart. When I first read this story in an Architectural book on preservation of houses in the Jax area I was overwhelmed by the destruction. The web site doesn't have all the photos that was in the book and the aftermath of what the people went through in such a short period of time.

Mike did a fantastic job with the vocals, he really made the song come alive. Thanks again for listening.
