QuoteLa solea

Vestida con mantos negros
piensa que el mundo es chiquito
y el corazón es immenso.

Vestida con mantos negros.

Piensa que el suspiro tierno
y el grito, desaparecen
en la corriente del viento.

Vestida con mantos negros.

Se dejó el balcón abierto
y al alba por el balcón
desembocó todo el cielo.

¿Ay yayayayay,
que vestida con mantos negros!

Federico García Lorca

When i asked my flamenco teacher what the Solea palo(genre) is about he gave me that poem. That was half a year ago, right when i left my jazz university to study flamenco. I remember that day, my future teacher's flamenco band had a rehearsal in a nearby classroom and i asked them if i could stay and listen and watch a bit. After two hours, when i at last managed to pick my jaw off the floor i had only one thought: i don't need all the money, all the women and all the fame in the world, i just want to know how to make this magic.

I'm just a student, so i know there is a lot of work ahead, with all the rajeos and compases, so making a recording now might be quite a silly idea, considering the fact that concept of misunderstanding or spoiling something in this fantastic Art with a touch of my filthy northern hands scares the hell out of me. :)

Here i play some of falsetas and paseos that master showed me and one Vicente Amigo's one, from his amazing Mezquita soleares. I don't know too much falsetas so track is not long.

Another fine example of the diversity of music this site provides. Five minutes ago I was listening to Canadian Rap now I'm in Spain. I thought this was great. Keep up the good work.  Willie

WOW!  :D

Really astonishing level of quality in this performance!  The background story testifies to the respectful way you have approached the challenge of learning this kind of playing.  It takes work and dedication and you're doing it!  Thank you and carry on me amigo.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

This is fantastic. I have a hankering for flamenco myself, but I'm not ready to move into it just yet.

I bet Gringo loves this, cause I sure do.

excellent work.
