Advanced drum machine for GNU/Linux. I does have a windows installer if you use windows.

I'd love to hear about your experiences with Hydrogen. 64 recommended it some time ago and I'm just now learning about  it.
There are some good vids on it;

i use a variety of ways to get drum parts-besides using real drums,from time to time, i use EZ Drummer and Session Drummer3 in Sonar.
For fleshing out parts, I use my BR600- which is nice because i can load tones such as congas and other better sounding samples that the BR600 cannot provide-
The quantization(ppq) in the BR600 doesnt allow for smooth natural sounding rolls though

finger drums are the way i,ve done most of my tracks of late-i'll start with a simple bass/snare-then layer on top-using a DAW allows for editing mistakes

I'll use loops from time to time -although i dont buy loop cd's-just freebies

The MBR for drums is too constraining for me- i'm in awe of the quality of tracks that some of the vets on this site get using MBR drums
i've been considering getting an OCTOPAD spd30 lately-GAS attack

Wartime Novelty

What i do is tab the basic structure of the song out in guitar pro

then i write the drum patterns from scratch in there this helps to lock in on tempo/time signature changes.

I then export the midi into reaper and use the steven slate ex plugin for the sounds

i then edit as needed using the piano roll view in reaper, i sometimes write them this way too if i am just doing a quick tone test etc
Current equipment Ibanez RGA42FM with Bare Knuckle Miracle Man & Mississippi Queen, Marshall TSL601, Shure SM57, Line6 UX1, M-Audio MA30 monitors

I use the Yamaha DD65.  It doesn't get me any street cred but I like the results.  It is used in practically all my posts.

The advantage is that it's apartment size and I can pack it up... and the price is good too.  Oh, and mainly because I get the satisfaction of playing by feel instead of pre-calculating the nuances of the drumming.
