A work mate of mine died a week ago today, a big guy 6 ft 2 and sixteen stones, the last guy I would have thought this would happen to. Talked to him last Friday morning as we where unloading our trucks, got a phone call on Sunday to say he had died.
This song not really about him, it,s just about how life just dose,nt stop. I,ve been driving up and down just the same all week and his truck is still going past at the same places as always except with someone else driving.

SE, this is a tough one to comment on, because it hits home. I've watched this happen with friends who have passed, and it just seems unfair that the world doesn't stop, just for a little while.

It's a great song my friend. It is so open and honest. Well done.

Thats a deep heartfelt song.  Shit man, thats heavy stuff.  takes a toll.  Your song is kinda spooky sounding, very excellent way to turn your raw emotion into song, it is very effective.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Touching song, SE
I agree with Tony W, It seems a little sad that the world doesn't even seem to pause.
The truth is, to the world as a whole... we are nothing as individuals, so it's up to us individually to pause and remember.
That line about seeing the same truck on the same route the next day, with someone else driving it, really sums it all up. In the overall scheme of things, just how important are we, as individuals.

Totally awesome work SE. 3 thumbs up.

I love the "Your clock is always ticking" lyric. From the day you're born, bro.

Wonderful music, great acoustic and vocals, John. You really know how to put the feeling into your songs - I love them.

Peace,

Mark

We are only here for a short journey.....
All the wheels keep turning on & on... nothing changes,
sometimes seems like we are only cogs in some great wheel
or something....I Don't know, but I for sure know exactly
what you have experienced, and are writing about.
It is merely the cycle of the universe, but it is intimate
for us, because we relate day to day.
But, I am indeed rambling....I am sorry, I have been drinking.
But, I feel for you, and I love your song and the idea of your song.

Wow!  Thought provoking for sure.  Nice and intense guitar strumming and singing.  Perhaps a clock ticking quietly in the background to the beat would add some more tension.  Just a suggestion. ;)

Nice!
