Dave, this is a very emotional song and the emotion comes across well. The only thing I was wanting was perhaps a little lead (on the acoustic) in places to give a bit more melodic interest. The piano chords can be a bit dominant. But the lyrics are very strong and the feeling comes across really well, and the chord sequences fit the feeling fo the song really well. Great songwriting.

On the vox front, a trick you could try is to have one of your vocal tracks recorded dry and then put effects on the other tracks and mix them together, with the effects track adding a bit of depth to the clean track. Andy R has posted some great stuff on tyhis site about how he does that.

Cheers,

Nigel

This is really good song Dave, I think Mark is right about the vox though and you should try singing without layering it or using too many effects.. But nicely sung and played anyway. Very enjoyable.

Nice song.  I like your style and lyrics.  I like the rhythm in the vox and the guitar.  There is also a neat "ffffuupp, fffuupp, fffuupp" (rhythm guitar with muting?) sound that comes in at points in the middle (panned first left and later right?).  I agree with the comments about trying a less processed vocal -- although you may be self conscious about your voice I think its great!

I love this song just as it is, some great chord progressions with a superb vocal melody and performance.

I really like the effect you have used on your voice, it sounds very much suited to the song.

Songwriting of the highest order right here, and another fine example of the stunning music we are all able to enjoy on this site

I really like this song.  Your voice is pretty damn good as it is, I am not sure you need too much more effects.  If it were me I would double track it, nothing else needed.  Deep heartfelt lyrics that really shine here.

This is a really nice song. As some of the guys have said you could add or subtract any number of different options but at the end of the day it's still a fine piece of songcrafting to be proud of.  Willie
