I didn't write this, a friend did.  His version was a bit rough but I heard a great tune in there, so I asked him if it was OK if I played around with it. I MIDIed acoustic and electric piano, Kick drum and conga, some oboe, cello ensemble and bass.  The vocal harmonies were based on his arrangement,  I thought that some rhythm guitar strumming would add a nice touch so I asked him to send one. He also sent a little lead work.  He is pleased with the finished project and so am I.  What do you think?

Lyrics;

In the ruins of your mind
You see reflections of the lies
that made you who you are.  Who you are.

In the castles that you dreamt
you lived the life that you dared
But your dreams were just smoke.  Were just smoke

Lies are still lies
Though they're meant to be kind
Dreams are but glass
and both shatter with ease

Would love to hear his version JB. He should get himself on Songcrafters too. Ur version was great. Could hear the potential. Nice grand piano stabs. Love it.

He's got an ear for a harmony. Love his voice. Your friend has a great soul voice. Needs to sing songs that suit 'him' tho. Wow. What a timbre he has. Seriously. I love his voice. Don't think it'll ever suit your stuff but it will, mine if he's ever interested?

I gotta pass this onto him, BM, cos I really think he'd appreciate it.  As is quite evident in his voice, he's from the UK. He's in his early 60s so he's been around and heard alot of stuff.  He's also very much Avante Garde in his style.  On another forum which we both frequent, he tends to post "snippets" more than full tunes.  Not everybody is into that style, but I find it pleasing.  I know it's funny coming from a guy like me who has such a "Christopher Cross" style structure to his tunes being partial to experimental, but the truth is I love it.  And with Leigh many times in his snippets, there's a song in there and a feeling that just jumps out to the depths of your soul, even if it's only a few bars, you can tell he feels it.  I really think he'd fit in nicely here.
