Hi, i have just read somewhere on google that the drum editor that is downloadable for the BR600 also works on the MBR. Has anyone tried this and knows it to be true. Apparantly the guy that posted it uses it.  ???

The BR Rhythm Editor's files are not compatible with the Micro BR. However, you can run the BR Rhythm Editor on your computer without any BR attached by unzipping this file into the root directory of any drive:

A USB flash drive is handy for this but any drive will do.

To get the drum arrangements to your Micro BR, you have to record them on your computer as a stereo WAV file, then import that WAV file into the Micro BR. Unlike the Micro BR's built-in drum machine, this takes up two audio tracks and the arrangement cannot be edited within the Micro BR.

A better drum machine for Micro BR users is Hydrogen. See this page:

http://www.hydrogen-music.org/

It's more versatile and can export directly to WAV files.

Another program to consider is LMMS:

http://lmms.sourceforge.net/

It is comparable to the popular FL-Studio (Fruity Loops) program for Windows.

Both LMMS and Hydrogen are free and versions are available for Windows and Linux. There is also a Mac OS X version of Hydrogen.

The only drum software I know of that's directly compatible with the Micro BR is the Micro BR Drum Pattern Arranger from Tommy's Toolbox:

However, this program isn't free. It costs 20 pounds.

The small program I posted here is also able to convert drum arrangements to MBR format (and back to BR Rhythm Editor):
