Okay, this weekend my nephew and niece did a talent show called "Temecula's Got Talent". For this, they performed a song they wrote. He is 12 and she is 15. So I recorded them since I was up there this weekend. A little rough... He needs a bit of work on his timing. And my other nephew still needs to add his drum part.

They are excited to hear (read) what other people think.   heh

Ok, there are a couple of timing issues and a couple of pitching gliches but overall I really enjoyed it and I wish I'd been that good when I was their age. In fact I wish I was that good at any age. Keep going and I'm looking forward to hearing it again with the drummer. By the way how did they do in the competition?  Willie

Sai, I'm floored with the musicality that exudes from your family. What a genetic gift.

This is an excellent song. I can't find anything to knock here, it's a rock solid song and performance. As far as timing issues..... I've got timing issues, I don't hear anything out of place here.

Good vocal, nice song!
I hope you're going to upload the version with drums!
Looking forward to it!

Geez guys - this sounds pretty damn good to me.

Stands up to pretty much anything on the radio these days. Sounds really great for a "rough" recording.
Your niece has a fantastic voice for 15. The way she is phrasing those vocals makes her sound like a very experienced vocalist.
Your nephew is doing a pretty good job of "spanking" that plank too.  ;D
Timing is a little off in places, but I don't think you can let that detract from the raw brilliance of the song.

This sounds great guys! I hope you did well in the competition.
It ain't pretty being easy.

Wow, That's it... I quit... if this is what 12 and 15 year olds are doing, I may as well give it up.
That first thing that went through my mind, after listening to this song was 3 yrs from now... Just imagine the possible growth of these kids, just mind blowing. I mean seriously 12 and 15.
The vocals and the lyrics are just as good as some of the stuff you hear from Miley Cyrus and the other kids on the radio. And the 12 yr old playing the guitar is just amazing. I'm re-recording some of my old songs and the other day I was listening to some of my strumming, isolated from the rest of the track and it was so bad I wanted crawl under the carpet and hide.
This kid is unbelievably talented.
The arrangement itself just blew me away and I look forward to hearing them progress.
Well Done guys...
P.s. Bring the vocals up a bit in the mix.

Absolutely stunning song from the youngsters!! I really like this melodic tune!! THis reminds a bit the Irish band -The Cranberries - in my ear (my favourite) from the 90's.

Thanks everyone. They really appreciate the comments. ;) They are working hard to get it tighter.

One thing I must mention... In my haste in trying to post this morning before I left for work, I should have added that I added the secondary guitar (right track) and the bass, by their request of course.

I tried to add temporary drum tracks, but the timing issue was much more prevalent then and made it almost impossible to make it sound right. As soon as my other nephew gets his drums fixed, he'll be putting a live drum track to it. But from the sounds of it, it seems that they are wanting to re-track everything from scratch anyway. So, we'll see how it goes. ;)
