Can anybody take a bit more prog?  I thought I'd put this one up since not only does it feature a bass solo by Nick, but I also get to do the guitar solo on this one, as well as the keyboards and some rhythm guitar.  I don't quite know what posessed me to do the "Booker T" Hammond line at the end!  Nick (nightcaller) sings as usual and the other guitar is Mark Drozdz.

This one is a bit more challenging than some we've put up for you.  The time signature changes were always a bit OTT.

Anyway the song is called "The Source."

Thanks chaps!  Really glad you like it.  I'll have to get Nick to put the lyrics up for you as I think he altered them a bit - and why shouldn't he as he wrote them!  This is another long distance international collaboration on recreating a song we wrote together back in the early eighties.  Mark Drozdz programs the drums using the drum machine built into his old Zoom 8 track recorder and has done a remarkable job of recreating what our real drummer did those years ago.  He then records the drums (together with a seperate click track) on his Roland VS2400, adds his rhythm guitar tracks and sends a rough mixed cd to me together with a time signature map (I think there are about 18 changes in time signature in this song).

I bring that in to my BR1600 as a stereo pair and synch it up with my midi synched keyboards.  I added 16 tracks of keyboards, a mono rhythm guitar track and a stereo guitar solo, submixed them all into a number of stereo pairs and sent them back to Mark.  He loaded them back into his VS, synched them and sent another rough mix at that stage to Nick in Poland.  Nick added bass and vocals using his BR900 (is that what you've got Nick?) and when Mark got them back he loaded them into his machine and did the final mix and mastering.

It takes a long time but it's great fun.

We have 10 tracks done now although I have yet to hear any of the finished mixes myself other than the 3 I have forced on you so far.  I'm sure I will inflict some more on you when I get them.

Hello all...By the way, I recorded the bass and vox on the bosscd900 direct-ish into the machine. I used the onboard, studio Bass patch, via an independent inline Boss chorus (to get the bass to sing a little..with a slight fretless feel) and via a Boss Compressor/limiter on this particular track...incidently the Studio bass patch has it's own comp/limiter effect anyway..i just like to overdo things..:)))For the Bass solo i recorded 2 seperate tracks for the stereo effect and to add more depth and our dear friend Mark (talented guitarist and drum programmer on all the False Prophet tracks) did the clever stuff with the mixing and mastering........ Bass always difficult to record and get a nice full, tonal sound..i think i almost got there...:)))ps.. My bass is nothing too fancy.. I use a 24 fret Cort, 5 string action bass. seems to do the trick thou:)))

 Lyrics as requested...
                                                         The source

Gone have the times when you were so much at ease
The path you once had was whipped away with consumate ease
vision undermined, a circle of confusion
Dammed this dam strife and heart felt solution

Chorus:-        Enter false prophecy conveyed to the source
Wayward false prophecy, that constantly conveys
                          condem the false prophet
                          who constantly conveys, constantly conveys...

Was it just the other day when you could see for miles and miles
tightrope that you saw, was laced with wide smiles
high hopes deep inside were laced with gumption and guile
The strife you think it's so near!-ensconced, cumilate, dire!

    Chorus:-

Swarming your well-being with such ill feelings
                          This bitter sweet taste within....
                          makes you doubt positive feelings...

    Repeat chorus:-

Killer tune lads - this style isn't always my cup of tea but that song is unstoppable, and the production is flawless.  Top musicianship and vocals all the way through - great work

There are only 12 notes, how hard can it be?....

This beauty is of the very highest quality. It's not a style I would usually listen to, but the sheer class and talent shines through. It's an enormous, stadium-filling production full of drama, excitement and epic musicianship. Wow!
