A lot of you may remember this old acoustic chestnut that was a massive hit in 1969. I don't know if it reached America, but it was a Europe-wide smash at the time. It has a very French flavour about it, but the accordion intro is missing from my version, lol.  I've never entirely liked the song, but it's quite a memorable one from my childhood, and I wanted to see how it would sound on a danelectro with a bit more welly than the insipid original. I changed a couple of the lyrics for a bit of fun too, but it'sd a pretty faithful cover chord and melody-wise.

All done on an MBR by me  :)

A pretty damn fine cover.  I have to say that I never really liked this song either but that's probably because you really couldn't avoid it at the time.  It seemed to be played constantly.

But I have to say that you have improved it no end.

I have to tell you that I have an embarrasment threshold that is truly stellar!  But I agree that this version is great.

I wish I'd written this, saw the bloke on TV recently, and lets just say he doesn't have much to worry about...

I've always loved this song too and this is a great cover of it. Much better than Right Said Fred's.

Never heard the original Tim, but this one sounds
really great to me. Nice robust guitars, and your
vox is awesome, [as it always is....]!

Turns out it was a great song all along, it just took Greeny to bring it to life.
