Plugged-In Fest... Strange Feelings Arising!

Having been trawling my mind for all the acoustic songs that I could cover, and have arrived at the following conclusion:

The songs I want to do the most are the ones I don't like! I mean, it's more tempting to commit an act of total vandalism on a song that you don't feel strongly about or even hate.

I realised this when I thought about doing an electrified Donovan cover. It just didn't feel right... in fact, it felt very bad just thinking about it.

My path is much clearer now. I'm looking for awful acoustic hits that I can pass electricity through until they rise up like a Frankenstein's monster, lol

Does anyone feel the same as this? How is it for you?

p.s. Anyone up for a collab on Bonnie Tyler's 'Lost in France'? lol

I've had the same feeling Tim, tho I do like Mr. Zebra, the next one may very well be one I "hate" ... or maybe not .... depend what's more painful, to have to learn a song I hate or to butcher a song I like

Yep, I haven't seriously considered doing one yet... but all of the ones I've thought of have been in the, er, "vandalism" category so far - even songs I actually like

(I can't really see myself putting any time into a song I didn't like in the first place, though)

OK, who's gonna be brave enough to trash something like Yesterday and post it on here??

I try to pick things that are unexpected. Or I really enjoy changing a song that some say should never be covered, or could never covered. As is the reason I picked Hotel California and While My Guitar Gently Weeps for the Punk Fest. With HC, it was someone telling me that it would sacrilegious to cover it as a punk song... So I was determined to do it. With WMGGW it was due to the fact that I wanted to a Beatles song, but I didn't want to do one of the songs that had been covered to death!

I like doing song I hate too though... you should have seen my list of possible cover songs for the Punk Fest. Everything thing from N'Sync to Paula Abdul to Britney Spears...

So, as it happens now, these are the same criteria I am "trying" to go by for the Plugged In Fest, but nothing is really striking me... That is until Andy mentioned Yesterday... Hmmm      Looks like Geir might be interested though     Still looking at some of the songs that were suggested in my YOU TELL ME thread. 

Oh yeah... and a VANDAL FEST would be badass!  LOL

Oh dear!!! After I posted yesterday, about, er, Yesterday, I got to thinking that it could be quite a good idea... (could possibly even be done respectfully...)
