I love this overall but the vocals are a particular stand out for me - I love that stereo effect. Great original punk song from the Stooges and this is a damn fine version. That weird stuff at the end is fab, it needs to go on much longer!

Cheers,

This is awesome! You've really captured the vibe of a true Punk classic...years before anyone had coined the term "punk rock". Wicked version Joe and a great choice.

Absolutely stunning cover, cuth (like Arnold Layne from the Unplugged fest). Well played and sung with top producing. I love the guitar sound on this! I have 'Stooges' on vinyl and this is one my fav from it. Straight in my player...

Sweet man, this is just so sweet.  Lou Reed does Iggy.  I could listen to this all frigging night.  Your voice is so damn fine here.  Great job Cuth, just a real great job.

Hey, thanks to everyone for the great comments, especially on the vox - I really appreciate it!  :)

I did four vocal tracks for this: two full, and two 'partial'. I had a bit of a struggle trying to get a good balance between vocals and music - haven't done anything quite this fuzzy or bassy in quite some time - and there seemed to be some frequency conflict occurring someplace that I really had a hard time pinning down. Ultimately I ended up cutting lower frequencies on the bass (compressed and chorused) and electric guitar, and boosting the vocals and that seemed to help a bit. I'm thinking it all could have been done better, so any technical advice out there will be gratefully received.

Jim, Nigel, and Mark...so glad you enjoyed the electronic warbling at the end! I was actually planning to do a freakout electric guitar solo but it just wasn't happening for me so I decided to turn to the old Stylophone and Faustus oscillator, which worked in a pinch. Looking back, I really should have stayed with it for a few more bars (and I had padded several more bars of riff in preparation for a long fadeout early on), but I was in a hurry to submit it after a rather busy week and being late and all, and there you have it...might do an extended remix of this at a later date. :)

T - I had heard at least parts of this song in the past too (I think most recently in 'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels'), but didn't know the song proper until I got the Stooges on CD. That's a great album, man...I highly recommend.

And Mark, I hadn't really noticed the Lou Reed inflection before  - I was thinking it was sounding more like later Ig, but now that you mention it, I can hear it sometimes!  :) Always liked the Velvet Underground, and I've got nearly all their music, and I'm a big fan.  8)

Thanks again, guys.

cheers,
cuth
