T.C. Elliott

My neighbor was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months to live. That was almost a year ago. He's still alive and waves to me sometimes when I mow my lawn. He inspired this song but none of the details are true.

Me: Acoustic guitar, acoustic guitar with fun br twincrunch effects, bass guitar, vocals
maybe someday: fake drums (I played to a click track so this is possible if I get around to it)

He's been here for years
In this neighborhood
As the world just goes on by
All the things he loves
Turns into memories
They grow old and then they die

A lonely teardrop falls
The only sign of pain
He knows that this too will pass
It's only a matter of time

All his kids are grown
They've all gone away
So he sits lonely and alone
He talks to the photographs
Hanging on his walls
Lonely in the house that was his home

All his pills are gone
And so is all his wine
Soon his pain will go away
He's been sick for years
Now his time has come
He knows he's better off this way

Wow, nice one TC. I think its fine without the drums. Considering the theme you chose, you want this kind of song not to sound too busy. Great work!

nice one! interesting subject matter-- and I bet there's a few more songs you can get out of that subject, too, if you wanted to.. just that detail about waving to you while you mow the lawn next door is interesting, you probably could also expand on this a bit in the song if you wanted to (ie- how does he feel about his life? is part of him relieved? upset? angry? in denial? etc)

nice simple production, too, with a nice amount of sonic crunch in the right places :)

Great song and subject T.C.
I can relate to this because one of my neighbours just died from cancer. She was only 50. And now another on my street was diagnosed. I`m with T on the no drums for this. Great work!!

Great song, this one strikes deep.  You are not slowing down, infact your songs are getting stronger the longer you go on this mad mission of yours to write a song a week.  Impressive

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Leave the drums alone - this has a lovely strummed rhythm that carries the song along very nicely. Great melodies and lyrics that are touching and universal. It's a winner!
