Tunnel of Love - Dire Straits cover

One of my favourite Dire Straits tracks - I'm currently recording an album of half Dire Straits covers and half original songs in a sort of Mark Knopfler style.

what an amazing cover. Can't tell any difference with M Knopfler ! Do you play all the instruments?
How did you record it, please tell us everything.

Hi Daniel

Thanks for your comment - I played all of the instruments on Home Alone and nearly always work  that way although I must say I didn't play the piano or bass on Tunnel of Love.  I recorded all of the tracks from this project in my house using a Protools 002r system and am currently also using Ableton Live 8 Suite.  Guitar is my first instrument but I have also toured as a bass player and keyboard player. I use a variety of guitars - I used a line 6 acoustic on home Alone alongside a heavily modified artist series Stratocaster. The Strat has a built in ghost system which I sometimes use to trigger an axon midi synth. I also use a couple of Gibson Les Pauls one a Goldtop deluxe 1969 model and the other a 1973 Deluxe. I do have other guitars but these are the ones I tend to use the most. I've always used Kurzweil samplers although lately I am tending to use more and more of the Ableton plug ins. I use a line 6 bass which records quite nicely and tend to use the Stratocaster as my first guitar in the studio.

Hey thanks everybody thats really nice of you and thanks Ted, you were right in thinking that  I didnt know what fmgwabp meant although I do now - I thought it was just a typo at first thanks oldrottenhead. I've got a version of waterline somewhere I'll upload it if I can find it Mark as that is also one of my favourite Knopfler tunes.
