I tried to write a country song. Just some simple lyrics and I tried to sing it in a raspy voice. I just kept singing till my voice was about to give out to get this sound.
I spent more time mixing this one to try and get better stereo seperation. I added the first verse of "Amazing Grace" to the last chorus of this song. The words were written in the 1700's so I think the copyright has run out.   :)
Any and all comments or suggestions are always welcome.
Thanks for listening,
Dave

        SMALL TOWN COUNTRY BOY

I work hard all day for a little pay,
I live for the weekend, I like to go fishing,
Go out with my buddies and do a little drinking,

I'm just a small town country boy,
I love this nation, I'm proud of my family,
I sing Amazing Grace in my church community,
Theres no place else on earth I would rather be,

I met her one night and we started to date,
She looked so fine, She had to be mine,
I just knew someday that girl would marry me,

She's just a small town country girl,
She loves this nation, She's proud of her family,
She sings Amazing Grace in her church community,
Theres no place else on earth she would rather be,

30 Years have passed since then, we got married, bought a home
Got a boy in college and a girl with a child of her own,
Now all I really want to do is baby grow old with you,
Sit on our front porch and watch the world go by,

I'm just a small town country boy,
I love this nation, I'm proud of my family,
I sing Amazing Grace in my church community,
Theres no place else on earth I would rather be,

Good lyrics. How'd the wife like the song? It's well produced, the bass was subtle but very much present, I really dug that. I enjoyed the listen.

Mmm Mmm...

I'm not getting much of country feel here. To me it sounds more like what was called "Heartland Rock" in the '80s (e.g. Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp).  Good company, no?

Love the lyrics, their rhythm, and picture they paint.  I wonder how it would sound if you used a cleaner guitar sound, or acoustic?  It also might be cool if you could find someone to add lap steel to this.
