LOL +1, this had me intrigued and then made me crack up.

Cheers,

Yeah, tricked me too!  :D

Also made me curious about the 'little bird' song.  The first place and the only other place I have ever heard that before was in 1973 in Army boot camp at Fort Dix, N.J.  (stairway to Hades!) We would be marching along with the drill sergeant calling cadence: Yer lepth, Yer lepth, Yer lepth rot lepth... and then break into this song which would be done as a 'call and answer' back and forth between the drill sergeant and us boots.   ::)   Is that similar to where you picked up the song or was it elsewhere?

But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Hello Hooper,
As to your question on where the "Little Bird" part originated, I came up with it myself.
I am not aware of similar limericks roaming the planet, although I'm not surprised.
Parallel development.

Yeah, parallel development.... or maybe a crack in the chronosynclasticeffindibulum  :D
But in 1973 I was marching in formation out to the rifle range (was caught in the last US draft call ever...) and singing:

A little bird, with a yellow bill
Landed on my window sill
I lured him in with a piece of bread
And then I crushed his f#@#n' head!

From 73 to 96 (when I got out) the lyrics have not changed at all. It just doesn't seem possible that 96 was 14 years ago....... I'd hate to know what you're thinking right now Hoop.
