p.s. I have to say - it's better than the original, imo. It just suits you better.

Second version is much better, really love that bass sound with the string scratches coming through a bit, that works well. I find bass the hardest thing to record well on the MBR and you did a great job. The combination of everything here works really well, the bass, synth and drums make a really cool sounding groove. And the mayhem at the end is brilliant!

Excellent job Jim, really class effort and I'm glad you redid this. Haven't heard the original or heard of Second Layer - they must have been pretty obscure if I didn't know them..... You blew it away of course.

Cheers,

Nigel

they where an offshoot from a band called the sound the late adrian borland (a genuis) and graham bailey. the sound should have been as big as joy division and echo and the bunnymen. i'm sure you would remember them nigel, they never made it big but where always well represented by the nme and their ilk.

I loved both versions but if I had to choose one, I think I'd give this last one the edge.

I had never heard this song before this fest, but it's a great cover you did, Jim (I too prefer yours to the original)! In fact, it made me want an 80s Synth/Electronic fest even more - I love those cold synth tones!  8)
