Rajastan

Unfortunately I've never gone to India, but I love Indian music. I've listened to it since the Beatles' years.

So, when I saw a series of great pictures made in Rajastan by my friend Renato (http://www.flickr.com/photos/24068135@N06/) during one of his travels around the world, this was inspirational to me to compose this tune. To be honest, I don't know if the music recalls somehow the traditional music of Rajastan, and I have several doubts about it, but after all it's what the images suggested to me.
More, I love John McLaughlin's music, and I was lucky to be at one of his 1977 concerts with Shakti, here in Sicily. One of the best concerts I've ever been. John's music and approach to guitar has always been one of my main influences.

Seagull acoustic guitar; Godin Freeway SA, via Roland GR-30 and some VST instruments for the various synth and ethnic sounds; background loops (percussion of course) by Steinberg Sequel 2.

lovely piece and accompanying video. i cant believe how real you can get vst instruments to sound. this has a magical mystical vibe going and is so soothing and relaxing its beautiful like lying in a deep hot bath.

Jaw droppingly beautiful.  This is a GR-33 and vst synths?, very impressive.  It sounds very authentic.  Your seagull sounds very good here.  I have a seagull acoustic too, great guitars.  If you don't mind my asking, how did you record the acoustic, it really sounds good.

Dear Bluesberry, yes, Seagull acoustic guitars are perfect to me, but thinking better, they have the same origin as Godin (these too the ones I prefer), so nothing strange.

I've recorded the Seagull this way: Seagull  -> Zoom A2.1u (acoustic guitar processor) using a very "basic" preset -> Roland D16 digital mixer -> Roland BR-600.

Then, I usually work on each track on my PC, using Wavelab and Izotope Ozone VST, that has great presets for each single instrument.

In my most recent recordings instead, for acoustic guitar I prefer using the Yamaha Magicstomp Acoustic; not expensive but rather difficult to find (it's out of production); it has great presets, the sound is full and natural, and is also absolutely no-noise.
